What is keema rice?

Keema pilau rice Recipe

Ingredients needed to make Keema pilau rice

  • Mutton 200 grams minced
  •  Rice 1 1/2 cup
  • 2 teaspoons of oil
  • Green Cardamoms
  • Cardamom Black 1
  • Clove 5-6
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 8-10 black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seed
  • 2 cloves of garlic diced
  • 1 large, chopped onion
  • 3 Chillies diced
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic paste
  • Ginger paste 1 tablespoon
  • Red Chili Powder 1 teaspoon chopped 
  • 2 big tomatoes
  • Mint leaves 15 to 20.
  • Coriander leaves sliced with a few sprigs.
  • Salt according to taste
  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

How to prepare keema pulao

Step 1

Heat oil in a skillet, add green cardamom, black cardamom, garlic, cinnamon, peppercorn, cumin seeds. Add the chopped garlic, the chopped onion and the chopped green chilies for a minute.

Step 2

Sauté before the onions become golden. Add the mutton mince and simmer over high heat for five minutes.

Step 3

Apply garlic paste, ginger paste, red chili powder, sliced tomatoes and sauté for two to three minutes. Connect the rice and sauté for around a minute or two.

Step 4

Add three and a half cups of hot water, leaves of mint, chopped leaves of coriander and salt. Mix it gently. Add garam masala powder to the mixture.

Step 5

Stir and put to a simmer in the mixture. Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 10 to 12 minutes or until rice and Keema are cooked. Serve it hot to yourself or your guests

Keema fried rice recipe

Keema rice is a lively and common Indian dish that uses lamb mince and typical Indian spices. Lamb keema rice is fast and simple to cook. Not to mention it is very budget friendly.

Ingredients needed to make Keema pilau rice

  • One onion, finely chopped
  • Three cardamom capsules, smashed
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) of vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 2.5 cm (1 in) of fresh ginger, peeled and grated.
  • 450 g (1 lb) lean lamb
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) of turmeric
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) of chilli powder
  • 2.5 ml (1/2 tsp) of fenugreek ground
  • 1.25ml (1/4 tsp) of ground cloves
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) of garam masala
  • 2 green chilies, washed and finely sliced.
  • 2 onions, washed and finely chopped;
  • 250 ml (1 cup) of cooked peas
  • 700 g (4 cups) of cooked basmati rice

How to prepare  Keema fried rice

Fry the onion and cardamom gently in the oil for a few minutes, until the onion is translucent.

Apply the garlic and ginger to the onion and fry for around 1 minute.

Shift the heat up and add the mince to the mixture and brown the meat while stirring continuously for 5 minutes.

Apply all the remaining spices along with the tomatoes and begin to fry until the tomatoes have melted.

Pour in the peas and rice and begin stirring until all the spices have been coated.

Serve directly with sauce of choice or traditional Indian raita.
